Founder’s Perspective
Founder’s Dream
"From within the walls of the soul of this organization, wherein the foundation of character and citizenship are laid, I hope a message will come forth in the sometime of tomorrow that will stir the people toward the establishment of a permanent and everlasting world peace."
Founder Henry "Hy" Giessenbier

JAYCEE CREED
JAYCEE CREED
"We believe:
That faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life;
That the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations;
That economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise;
That government should be of laws rather than of men;
That earth's great treasure lies in human personality;
And that service to humanity is the best work of life."
-William Brownfield

Junior Chamber International [JCI] at a glance
What is Junior Chamber International [JCI]?
JCI is a Worldwide Federation of Young Leaders and Entrepreneurs with nearly a quarter of a million members and millions of alumni. It's an organization in which leaders meet, learn and grow. Our members are known as Jaycees.
JCI India is a NOM [National Organization Member] of JCI.
JCI Margao is a LOM [Local Organization Member] of JCI India. JCI Margao was extended by JCI Vasco on 15th August 1967. JCI Margao is, thus, the second oldest LOM of Goa.
How did we start?
In an effort to become more involved in civic issues, a young leader named Henry Giessenbier founded the Young Men's Progressive Civic Association (YMPCA) in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, in 1915. In 1918, YMPCA became affiliated with the St. Louis Chamber of Commerce. In the 1920s, international networks sprouted in Canada and England and, by 1940, they extended to Latin America.
In 1944, JCI was established in Mexico City, having Raul Garcia Vidal (Mexico), Erasmo Chambonnet (Panama), Taylor Cole (USA), Victor Boucas (Brazil), Theo Staar (Belgium) and Ramon V. del Rosario (Philippines) as its first pioneer Presidents.
What is our Vision?
To be the premier voice of young business, social and political leaders in the world, creating better societies by creating intercultural leaders.
Who are we?
We are creative and bold leaders between 18 and 40 years old, representing countless occupations, we develop new skills while contributing to our communities, laying new foundations, and establishing new businesses and social networks. We welcome people of any race, color, sex, religion and political ideology who want to become better leaders in any area.
What do we do?
We create better leaders to create better societies. We provide young adults like you with the confidence to reach inside themselves and overcome limitations. We show you how to achieve more than you thought possible in your family, business, and social environments.
Through the JCI University, members master the roles of managers, visionaries, coaches, educators, ambassadors and learners by participating in hands-on training workshops. Besides having the opportunity to network with successful business leaders through the JCI Biznet, JCI members can learn and grow by participating in countless and varied projects that benefit communities worldwide.
